Country Pubs, On Our Doorstep

WE HAVE an abundance of fantastic places to eat and drink, right here on our doorstep. Yorkshire produce is the best, and we want everyone to know it. Here is a small selection of venues we think are worth visiting within a few miles of the cottage, but if you don't feel like venturing far our local pub The Blacksmiths is 3 minutes walk away and has everything you need...

The Blacksmiths Arms Pub, Westow.

Owned and run by a farming family, our local pub is just a few yards away and is famous for its food, particularly the steaks which all come from their own cattle herd often seen grazing the banks of the River Derwent at nearby Kirkham. It's is a warm and inviting place with an attractive beamed bar and wood burning stove in a large inglenook fireplace. It's great for a drink or two as well as dinner. They also offer take away on their full menu Tues to Sun.

The Jolly Farmers Inn, Leavening.

Undoubtedly one of our favourite watering spots, this is a charming dining pub with a warm welcome from the genuinely friendly staff for both locals and visitors. Enjoy local real ales, good wines by the glass, superb modern cooking, a cosy fire and mingling with the good hard working farming folk of our area. It's fantastic value for money. Coincide your visit with their Beer Festival and Yorkshire Pudding Eating Contest for a memorable weekend.

The Bay Horse Pub, Burythorpe.

This is a great local pub situated in the heart of the sleepy village of Burythorpe and is well known locally for its real ale and hearty food. It has a friendly welcoming atmosphere typical to North Yorkshire, a games room, restaurant, and beer terrace. Great food for a great price.

The Stone Trough Inn, Kirkham.

With its' unbeatable views of the Howardian Hills and a curious history, the Stone Trough is a popular destination for many visitors to the area. Close to the ruins of Kirkham Abbey, this is a welcoming pub serving real ales and serving hearty Yorkshire food. A short drive or walk from the cottage.

The Pipe and Glass Pub, South Dalton.

Dating to the 15th century, the Michelin-starred Pipe and Glass Inn stands on the site of the original gatehouse to Dalton Park, still the residence of Lord Hotham. A warm, bustling and inviting pub, personally run by experienced owners. Generous portions of carefully executed, flavourful cooking, with judicious use of local, seasonable and traceable produce. Dining at The Pipe and Glass is truly a special treat.
